Howdy!
Welcome to the Mustang Team Science Class where we have a fabulous team of Cypress Grove 6th graders! I am thrilled to get to journey through 6th grade science with these wonderful students. This is my fifth year to teach at Cypress Grove, though I have been at Cypress Grove as a Special Education Instructional Assistant the previous 2 years. I have also been at Cypress Grove as a mom. Both my daughters and my son attended Cypress Grove. In fact, my son was in my class just last year! I love Cypress Grove and enjoy my time here as both teacher and mom.
I am also thrilled to return to the classroom. I have taught both 8th grade science and high school biology before I left to become a stay at home mom. I graduated from Texas A&M in 1995 with a degree in Community Health. I worked in home health and hospice before feeling called to teaching. After taking a year off from work to attend education classes and student teach, I became a teacher and part of a profession I love and value. Now that my own children are older, I am able to be part of educating children in our community once again!
This year we will explore scientific processes, matter, chemistry, energy, force, energy resources, minerals, rocks, the earth, space, taxonomy, and ecology. We will engage in lab investigation, group participation, and class discussions while strengthening our note-taking and study skills. I look forward to this year and all that lies ahead.
